Rodger Linden Chambers

August 29, 1936 - May 27, 2022

Rodger Linden Chambers, 85, of Eden Prairie, MN, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2022, surrounded by family.

Rodger was born August 29, 1936 in Bryan, Texas, the eldest child of J. T. Chambers and Beatrice (Satterfield) Chambers. Rodger grew up in Bryan and attended Texas A&M University as a U.S. Air Force ROTC Cadet, earning a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1959. Upon graduation, Rodger was stationed at U.S.A.F.'s Chandler MN Air Force Station, where he met the love of his life, Norma Schuur, at a New Year's Eve celebration.

Rodger was honorably discharged from U.S.A.F. in 1962, and joined Control Data Corp in Minneapolis. Rodger and Norma married February 1963, and settled in Richfield, MN to raise their family. Alison was born in 1965, Robert in 1966.

Rodger worked with Control Data until 1989, then started again as a Financial Advisor a role he loved - with Swenson Anderson. Rodger retired at 70.

Rodger was a lover and encourager of people, a man of wisdom. And was loved and respected in return. Rodger served his church faithfully, and his life was richer from many many decades-long friendships. Rodger loved stories and nature, combining both on annual fishing trips to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. He introduced many to the BWCA, and its beauty often brought him to tears.

Rodger is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Norma Chambers; daughter Alison (Blake Wolf) Chambers, son Robert (Chrystal) Chambers; grandchildren Sebastian Wolf, Ursula Wolf, Cort Chambers, Caden Chambers and Rhett Chambers; beloved siblings Marolyn (Louie) Woodall, Martha Hanna, and DC (Kathryn) Chambers.

A celebration of Rodger's life will be held at 2p.m. on June 20, 2022 at Richfield Church of Christ, 7314 Humboldt Av S, Richfield, MN. The service will also be streamed on the church's facebook page.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests paying it forward directly to those less fortunate in your community, or by donating to your favorite charity serving those less fortunate. Alternatively, Rodger also gave to Kibo Group (kibogroup.org) and Harding University (harding.edu).
