Franklin Barrier
April 24, 1945 ~ May 23, 2022

Franklin “Frank” Weldon Barrier, 77, went to his Heavenly home Monday, May 23, 2022 in Marshall. Frank was born April 24, 1945 in Cookville, Texas to Morris Weldon Barrier and Arden Lyle Knight Barrier. He graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering. Frank was an extremely intelligent man and during his career, designed many oil/gas platforms for the oil industry and even invented the Geothermal Packer. Frank was a lifelong and devoted Texas A&M Aggie and Dallas Cowboys fan.

Known as “Pop Pop” by his grandchildren, he loved his family with all his heart and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Frank was a social butterfly and would talk to anyone, never meeting a stranger. He loved tinkering with mechanical things and fixing old tractors and cars. Frank was an avid fan of westerns and loved to watch the classic TV shows and movies especially John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. Above all, he loved spending time in Arkansas at Lake Ouchita with family and friends. Lake Ouchita was Heaven on earth for him and will be his final resting place here on earth.

Frank was preceded in death by his father, Morris Barrier; mother and step-father, Arden and George Poole; and sister-in-law, Rachel Barrier.

He is survived by his children, Mary Lane (Sean), Kellye Lewis (John), and Samuel Barrier (Yvonne); grandchildren, Lauren Marlar, Madysen Moore (Lonnie), JR Lewis (Irene), Samantha Turner, Ethan Barrier, Francis Barrier, and Kenneth Barrier; great grandchildren, Aaomie Moore, Jordan Lewis, Tre’ Lewis, Zoe’ Lewis, and JaDon Turner; sister, Elizabeth Moore; brother, Ellis Barrier; nieces and nephews, Stacey Johnson (Mike), and Kyle Barrier (Tonya), Jennifer Jones, Kristie Stith (Jeff) and Morris Barrier (Hiedi); mother of his children, Virginia Barrier; and numerous great nieces/nephews, cousins and extended family and friends who loved him dearly.

Family and friends...thank you for reaching out and expressing your love and prayers for us and Dad and our extended family. The Lord was merciful and called him to Heaven within 24 hours of us being notified that he had begun to decline. We knew it would be one day but were not expecting it to be that day. Thankfully Sam was able to get home from his Navy reserve training in Mississippi. Kellye and Mary were able to visit him Sunday evening when he was still with us. He gave us a kiss goodbye and a blink to see us tomorrow. Sam and Mary were with him holding his hand when the Angel of the Lord came to take him Home. He was at peace.

A Celebration of Frank’s Life will be held 1:30 pm, Saturday, May 28, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Haughton, 105 E. Washington Ave., Haughton, LA 71037. On-line condolences may be made at www.meadowbrookfh.com.
