Cole Matthew Joiner
August 1, 1991 - April 13, 2022

Cole Matthew Joiner, age 30, of Dallas, Texas, died on April 13, 2022.

Cole was born in Dallas on August 1, 1991, to parents Susan and Robert Joiner. Cole developed his soft and gentle spirit early at Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic School and then began to spread his wings in high school, attending Jesuit College Preparatory. He participated in football, wrestling, lacrosse, and powerlifting; his athletic ability shined in every sport. He was known as #40 on the football field, where he later set a record for the heaviest deadlift at Jesuit.

He was awarded an academic scholarship to continue his football career for the Austin College Roos. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Government to later attend law school. Cole graduated from Texas A&M University School of Law in 2017 and had been excelling in his law career since. His career continued at Hallett & Perrin, PC, where he was known as their calming force, a special spirit, and sometimes even their unofficial "IT manager."

Whether playing on the football field or in his career, he was a humble leader many depended on and looked up to. Cole was always learning and spreading his knowledge with others as often as possible. Some people know "a little about a lot"- but he knew "a lot about a lot". His interests included world events, movies, politics, anything and everything sports, and stand-up comedy. He spent most of his free time reading, spending time with friends, walking his dog Deja, and relaxing at White Rock Lake to dream and plan his future.

Cole was his mom's love from the moment he entered this world. He always gave to others more than what he took. In almost daily calls to his mom, he made her laugh, smile, cry, and everything in between; "How's work?", "What's for dinner?", "How's Deja?", "What's up with your friends?". So simple then, but precious now. His bear hugs and constant teasing were his favorite ways to show love. Cole was his father's complete and true confidant-sharing his career successes and challenges, conversations about cars, life, movies, podcasts, or anything that came to mind. They shared a love for camping and experiencing nature together. He was the ultimate big brother and protector of his little sister, Emily. As they both grew older, their bond became stronger and blossomed into becoming best friends. They did everything together in adult life, and while walking together through this stage, he was the ultimate leader for her in navigating the ups and downs that come with growing up. With just one look at each other, they would know what the other was thinking, what joke was about to be said, and make each other laugh until it hurt. His life lessons inspired Emily and will continue to for the rest of her life. In addition, Cole grew close with Emily's husband, Ben, and nothing was more perfect than her big brother and her husband becoming best friends. The bond they shared was more than that of brother-in-laws, but that of an older and younger brother. The highlight of his week, and our family's week, was our Sunday Family Dinner that he never missed. We will always have a plate set for him.

Cole is survived by: his parents, Susan and Robert Joiner; sister Emily and brother-in-law Ben; his dog Deja. His uncles and aunts Jim and Angie Sabonis; Chris and Sandi Sabonis; Kevin and Sharlene Sabonis; Sharon Sabonis; Mike Grigsby. His cousins Nick, Kaden, Chloe, James, Ellie, Sarah, Sean, Sam, Gus, and many loving friends.

A service will be held for Cole at Sparkman-Crane, 10501 Garland Road in Dallas, on Friday, April 22, 2022 at 2 pm. He will be laid to rest at Cox Cemetery, where he will be close to home and White Rock Lake. Friends and family are welcome to the Joiner residence following the burial. Color attire is welcome to continue celebrating Cole's extraordinary spirit.
