Steven F. Winsor
September 17, 1949 - May 3, 2022

Steven F. Winsor, 72, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family,
Tuesday, May 3, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Kathy (Townend) Winsor
and the son of the late John and Patricia Winsor. Mr. Winsor was a proud
Chepachet resident for over 40 years before moving to Narragansett. He was the
loving father of Emily Zilly and her husband Ryan of North Kingstown, Britany
Coleman and her husband Michael of North Kingstown and Bradley Winsor and
his wife Lauren of East Greenwich. Steven is survived by 10 grandchildren, whom
he adored and loved talking about to friends, family, and anyone who would listen.
He was the brother of Stacy Chapman (Bill) and Susan Peach (Pete), both of
Arlington, TX.

He worked at Bryant University in Smithfield for 35 years, where he made
countless friends and had meaningful conversations and debates with colleagues.
Steve was a dedicated member of both the Glocester Zoning Board and the
Ponaganset Education Foundation. He was also a longtime coach with Ponaganset
& Glocester Youth Sports, coaching all of his children in basketball, soccer, and
baseball. He continued coaching after his own children aged out of recreational
sports. More recently, he loved advising his grandchildren and their friends on
playing defense, passing, shooting, and playing hard. They were always ready for
the post-game debrief! In addition to his love for youth sports, he was also a
member of Friendship Lodge #7 F&AM in Chepachet, the Air Force Association,
and was a part of the Chepachet Fire Department and the Boy Scouts in his
younger years.

Being a Texas A&M graduate was a source of pride for Steve and
he was a dedicated alumnus, attending events and jamborees throughout the years.
There are many pictures of Steve with his grandchildren all dressed in A&M shirts,
posing with a “Gig ‘em, Aggie’s” thumbs up!

His funeral will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at 11AM in the TUCKER-QUINN
Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Inurnment will follow in Acotes Hill
Cemetery, Chepachet. Visitation Monday, May 9, 2022 from 4-7PM. For any
friends who can’t make it, please have a “good IPA” in his honor! In lieu of
flowers, donations to Glocester Manton Library (P.O. Box C Chepachet, RI 02814)
will be appreciated, as Steve loved to read, especially an intriguing science fiction
novel.
