Glen David Churchill

January 28, 1934 - April 15, 2022

Glen David Churchill, longtime Abilene resident and successful business executive passed away at the age of 88 on Friday, April 15, 2022. He is survived by his devoted wife, Joy Churchill, children Susan Churchill, Sheryl Cosgrove and David Churchill (Barbara), Grandchildren Shannon Cosgrove Sarkees (George), Erin Cosgrove Phelps (Jake), Lauren Churchill and Ethan Kalisher, Great Grandchildren Keegan and Sloan Sarkees and his loving sister Jerrianne Churchill and family.

Glen was born in Mattoon, Illinois on January 28, 1934, to Glenn Steven Churchill and Bernice Osborne Churchill. He attended High School in Centralia, Illinois; then went on to graduate from Texas A&M University in 1956. Glen served his country in the reserves and worked for Arthur Anderson as a CPA in Houston before joining West Texas Utilities in Abilene in 1964. Glen spent 3 years in Corpus Christi with CP&L during which time he received an MB from Harvard in 1979. He moved back to Abilene to become CEO of WTU until his retirement in 1992.

Glen was well known in the business world and an admired civic leader. He traveled the world after retirement with his wife Joy, there's not much out there they did not see! From the Great Wall to Siberia, Singapore to Europe and especially the holy lands of Israel. The memories that were created lasted a lifetime. Glen was an avid golfer playing tournaments and courses around the world.

Glen was a man of God, a member and supporter of Our Savior Lutheran Church and a lifelong supporter of the Lutheran faith. Glen also appreciated the educational opportunities he had and was a 50+ year supporter of Texas A&M's scholarship programs and an avid Aggie Fan.
