Kellye Lynn Heasley Helleck
January 1, 1963 – April 15, 2022

Kellye Lynn Heasley Helleck, age 59, loving mother, daughter, extended family member and sincere friend to so many, passed from this life into the arms of God our Father on Friday, April 15, 2022 at HCA Houston Healthcare Conroe. Her family had been with her throughout her final days and were by her side.

She was born on January 1, 1963, in Houston, Texas to Lynnwood and Jean (nee Durrenberger) Heasley, and grew up in Conroe, Texas, graduating from Conroe High School in the Class of 1981. She was preceded in death by her father, Lynnwood Lyle Heasley and her only brother Scott Robert Heasley. She is survived by her two children, Leah Nicole Hirtriter, and Jeffrey Scott Helleck, by her mother, Jean Heasley, by many loved cousins and other extended family members and supportive friends who walked with her through her courageous, hard fought battle against cancer.

Kellye attended Texas A&M University, graduating in 1985 with a BBA in Management. After a brief career in restaurant management, she attended South Texas College of Law, graduating in 1992 when she began practice in Houston. She enjoyed her career as a civil litigator until 2007, a year after the birth of her second child, Jeffrey. She correctly stated that in all her years as a litigator, she never lost a case she tried. Yet as she slyly admitted, most cases are settled out of court. She counted as her greatest blessings the birth of her daughter, Leah Nicole, in 1998, and her son, Jeffrey Scott, in 2006, and loved the title of Mommy more than any other. She enjoyed traveling with family, from Mo-Ranch in the Hill Country to Disney World, Europe, or Central America and her children loved to join as her favorite travel companions.

Kellye was a loving servant of Jesus Christ, having been an active member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Houston, serving as a Circle Chairman and Membership Directory Coordinator among other duties, official and beyond. Following her cancer diagnosis, Kellye moved back to Conroe in May of 2021 to live with her mother. She rejoined First Presbyterian Church, whose church family she had been a part of while growing up. The Conroe church embraced her with their love and support throughout her cancer battle just as the members of Grace Presbyterian Church continued to do. The Women of Grace deserve special recognition in that regard. She also happily reconnected with many former friends from the CHS Class of 1981 and others. Friends always mentioned Kellye’s beautiful smile and her inclusive welcoming attitude which she was quick to share with others. She was beautiful inside and out, having reigned as Miss Tall Houston in 1988 and participating in the international pageant in Los Angeles that year.

Kellye’s family requests that you please join them for Visitation on Friday, April 22, 2022, at 5:00–7:00 p.m. at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, TX 77303 and for her Celebration of Life on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 2727 North Loop 336 West, Conroe, TX 77304. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kellye’s memory may be made to First Presbyterian Church Conroe at fpcconroe.org/give, or to Living Water International at https://water.cc.
