Samuel Edward Ausmus, III

September 14, 1949 - October 30, 2021

Samuel Edward Ausmus, III, of Nassau Bay, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2021 in Houston, Texas at the age of 72.

He was born on September 14, 1949 in Salisbury, Maryland to Samuel Edward Ausmus Jr. and Claire Spellman Ausmus.

Sam was ordained a Deacon in the Houston-Galveston Diocese in 1995. During his service at Shrine of the True Cross Church he touched many lives. He graduated in 1972 from Texas A & M with a degree in Business Administration. After a decade at Occidental Chemical, he started his own software business, IPM Software, Inc. He retired at 55, and began building racing sailboats. He sailed from Newport, R.I. to Bermuda by himself in 2007, as well as sailing in several Harvest Moon regattas. When he stopped sailing, his passion continued to be his family, especially after the birth of his grandson. Pawpaw took him to school from kindergarten until the day of his last surgery, attended nearly all of his baseball, basketball and football games. He was his wife’s biggest cheerleader and inspiration. He spent his life loving his family and friends, laughing, and trying to help others.

Survived by his wife Vicky Ausmus, daughters Chondra Pancoast and her husband Russell, Samantha Guthrie and her husband Justin and son Jaxson Guthrie. He also leaves his brother Robert Ausmus and his wife Tracee, Jim Ausmus, and his sisters Jessica Taylor and Christine Trout, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews.

His memorial service will be held at the Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, 851 Hwy 517 W, Dickinson, Texas 77539 on Thursday, November 4, 2021. Visitation will be from 2-3 and the service will start at 3:00pm.
