March 9, 1938 – January 7, 2022

Robert C. (Bob) Dabney, age 83 of Houston, TX., passed away on January 7, 2022.

Bob was a native Houstonian, born March 9, 1938, to Virgil and Katie Mae Dabney.

Bob graduated from Austin High School in 1956, and went on to Texas A&M where he graduated in May, 1960. Bob entered service with the U.S. Air Force in August, 1960, trained as a navigator, and served on active duty until 1964.

Bob married Roberta Jean (Bobbie Jean) Merrill in Aug 1960, and had two wonderful children, Robert Michael Dabney, and Leah Kay Dabney. Bob and BJ were married for 54 years.

Bob was stationed at Otis AFB, MA. during his first assignment with the Air Force. Despite being native Texans, Bob and BJ quickly fell in love with Cape Cod, and the New England area. It forever remained in their hearts, and was always present in their interests, and even home furnishings.

Bob was a Fightin’ Texas Aggie, and was a member of the Corps of Cadets. Bob loved listening to the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band, gathering with the Corps for march-in’s, and celebrating Aggie Muster and Parent’s Day weekends in the spring. He was an active member of the Corp of Cadets Association.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Katie Mae; his daughter, Leah '86, and his wife, Bobbie Jean.

He is survived by his son, Mike Dabney '84; daughter-in-law, Becky Dabney '86; two grandsons, Keegan Dabney and Garrett Dabney; and in-laws, nieces and nephews in the Dabney, Merrill, Long, Carlson, Janssen, Cioli and Edmonson families.
