Robert Craig Barker, 70, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2021, in his home near Flatonia, TX.

Bob was born on September 30, 1951, in Dallas, TX to Randall Manning Barker and Marjorie Washington Barker. He graduated cum laude from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1974. Throughout his successful career as a Professional Engineer, Bob was known for his dedication and quality work in the industrial, power, and chemical industries as a technical expert in the management of multi-billion dollar construction projects.

An avid scouter, Bob participated throughout his entire life, starting with Cub Scouts as a child, to adult leadership roles, up to his passing. His dedication to scouting was recognized on many occasions with such honors and awards as the NESA Outstanding Eagle Scout, Silver Beaver, Vigil Honor, and Distinguished Chairman. Bob was a man of faith who gave service to the community through youth programs. He also donated over 35 gallons of blood during his lifetime. His donations were frequently reserved for premature infants who were compatible with very few donors.

Bob was a wonderful husband and father and is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jean Stephens Barker '75; 4 children:  Doss '04, Samuel '06, Neva '07, and Abram '13; and 13 grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Ronald Barker, Janet Payeur, Diane Barker, and their families.

A memorial service to celebrate Bob’s life will be held December 30, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. CST at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 140 Tahitian Dr., Bastrop, TX 78602, which will also be broadcast virtually for those unable to attend. The family invites current and former Eagle Scouts in attendance to wear their award in tribute to Bob’s many years of service.
