Ryan Mitchell Horn
September 2, 1986 - December 23, 2021

A guy who never met a stranger, a friend to everyone, a devoted father, and a loving husband – the world lost a great man in Ryan Horn on Thursday afternoon, December 23rd. Ryan was playing golf when he suffered a cardiac event.

He is survived by his wife, Kristie Horn, and their three sons, Oliver, Harris, and Brooks; his parents, Nita and Jimmy Horn; and his siblings and their families, Logan and Taylor Horn and Taylor and Riley Rocha, along with their daughters, Lyla and Etta Rocha; Kristie’s parents, Karen Sinyard and Ken Nugent; and her siblings and their families, Kaitlin and Will Hammill, Cal Nugent and Reed Jones, Durham and Tianzi Goode, and Barton Goode and Rebecca Klischer, along with their daughters and sons, Kennedy Hammill, Emery Hammill, Liam Hammill, and Caleb Goode.

Ryan and Kristie met in Texas and he followed her back to Georgia. He was her everything – her rock, her personal comedian, the muscle, her chef and her best friend. One of their favorite quotes that embodied their relationship was by Robert Fulghum.

He said, “We’re all a little weird. And life is a little weird. And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall into a mutually satisfying weirdness – and call it love – true love.”

Ryan moved to Georgia shortly after law school. However, he never really left his Texas family. Throughout his years in Georgia, he always remained connected with his immediate and extended family in Texas and was always quick to remind everyone in Georgia that everything was bigger and better in Texas. As a devoted Aggie and Texas native, he never left behind his roots or Aggie spirit.

Ryan and Kristie married in 2014. They spent a little time in Atlanta, but found the most joy back near Kristie’s childhood home in Flowery Branch, Georgia, where they brought Oliver and Harris into the world. Ryan loved life in Flowery Branch, loved tinkering with different projects at the house, and loved being near the water.

Wanting to be closer to family, Kristie and Ryan made the move to Milton where Brooks was born. Once in Milton, Ryan felt the urge to finally take up golf much to the delight of his Georgia family who loved the game. He always thought golf was too slow, so when he began playing, he would always run to his ball to make sure he got at least a little cardio in for that round.

Ryan fell in love with the game of golf, taking regular lessons and amazing many as his athletic ability quickly propelled him. He enjoyed the game, enjoyed the opportunity to learn, enjoyed the gadgets and naturally all of the shoes. But, what he loved the most was the opportunity golf gave him to unwind, be competitive and meet and spend time with old and new friends.

Ryan had an awesome ability to connect with anyone on any level. He was always quick to be silly and playful with his kids, siblings, nieces, and nephews. He was loving and strong for his soul mate Kristie. He was best friends with co-workers, neighbors, clients, and so many others. Only in his passing has it become evident how many people he regularly kept in contact with as only a best friend would do.

Ryan will be so dearly missed, but his memories will live on through his family, his three sons, his many friends, and all those he met and spent time with.

A few years ago, Kristie was looking for an art piece to hang over their bed. She found a quote that she ended up making into a sign not knowing how much this quote would be so fitting for today, the future, and for all of the many people who loved him. “I wish I met you sooner so I could love you longer.”- Adam Doleac

Ryan’s memorial service will be held at Hawks Ridge Country Club, 1100 Hawks Ridge Golf Club, Ball Ground, GA 30107, on Monday, January 3rd, 2022 at 3:00pm EST. All are welcome to attend for the outdoor service and reception. Please bundle up as the temperature is expected to be in the 40s and please wear a mask to help protect yourself and others.
