Gussie Edwin "Ed" Meisenheimer, Jr.
March 10th, 1930 - December 29th, 2021 (91 years old)

Ed passed away peacefully on December 29, 2021 with his loving wife Dolores (Dee) Meisenheimer by his side. Ed was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on March 10,1930. His father, Gus Meisenheimer, moved the family to Corpus Christi, Texas in 1931.

He attended schools through graduation from Corpus Christi High School where he met the love of his life Dee and took her to her prom in 1948, years later they were married in 1950. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1952 with a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration and as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. Ed went off to flight and armory school then left for Korea in December 1953 to join the 25th Infantry Division in 1954 as a liaison pilot then he accompanied the 25th Infantry Division to Hawaii with his wife and son (Kyle).

In 1955 Ed was honorably discharged from active duty and he and his family returned back to the mainland where they relocated to Denver, Colorado after accepting a position as a pilot for United Airlines. Ed continued with the Army Reserves as a Commander of a helicopter unit. Here they grew their family from one son to two more- Layne and Brett. They continued to travel and live in exciting places such as Seattle, D.C., Chicago, and Virginia. Ed and Dee moved 32 times during their happy life together while they enjoyed creating and maintaining friendships across the country.

Ed was an avid hunter, fisherman, scuba diver, sailor and loved all school sports. He was a Master Mason and a member of The American Legion for 20 years. For 30 years Ed ran a charter boat service in the Chesapeake Bay while working as an airline pilot then post retirement. In 1995 he and Dee left Virginia and returned to Corpus Christi to reconnect with their childhood and high school friends. Ed became an active ember of the Corpus Christi Mustangs, the Art Museum of South Texas, the Former Students of Del Mar College, and the George H. W. Bush Library.

In 2016 Ed and Dee relocated to South Florida to be with their children, Kyle (Maria), Layne (Lina), and Brett (Tracie), His grandchildren and great-grandchildren gave him great enjoyment during life. Ed led a life filled with global travel, adventure, laughter and love.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Gus Meisenheimer and Julia Clyde Stringfellow, and his two sisters Loraine Hinson and Jean Pennington.
