John Leslie Hall
October 12, 1930 - December 18, 2021

John Leslie Hall, 91, entered into his heavenly reward on Saturday, December 18, 2021. Born to Leslie E. and Josephine Hall in Port Arthur, Texas on October 12, 1930, John lived in Newton County for almost 90 years.

His funeral service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 22, at Watson Chapel Methodist Church with burial at Watson Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Adams-Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 21 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

John grew up an only child on the family farm near Bleakwood and raised the first four of his six children there. In 1977, he moved near the crossroads of Bleakwood and established “Mockingbird Hill” as the long-time family home.
John worked the family farm with his father from an early age. He was a dairyman, rancher and a manager in agribusiness ventures. He retired as Regional Circulation Manager for the Houston Chronicle.

He attended Bleakwood and Kirbyville schools. He graduated Kirbyville High School in 1948 and Texas A&M University in 1952. He served at Ft. Hood and in Germany in the U.S. Army.

John married his childhood sweetheart, Nettie Lee McBride, on June 25, 1952 and they spent 63 wonderful years together raising six children. She has waited in heaven for him for six years now, along with his parents.

John is also survived by his children, Gene '76 and Ernette Hall of Waco, Sue and Nubbin Stanton of Call, Bruce Hall of Lindale, Nancy and Harold Kelley of Kirbyville, Sally and Danny Ramsey of Kountze and Kay '92 and Ray Wallage of Lumberton.

Also surviving him are 15 grandchildren ('10), 27 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Watson Chapel Cemetery Association.
