Randy Theodore "Coop" Cooper
June 23, 1960 - December 13, 2021

Randy Theodore "Coop" Cooper, beloved son, brother, brother-in-law, husband, cousin and friend, passed unexpectedly at the age of 61 in his home on Monday, December 13, 2021. Randy, son of Joan Fralix Payne and James Robert Payne, Jr., was born on June 23, 1960 in Charleston, South Carolina.

In 1979, Randy graduated from St. Andrews Parish High School in Charleston. Randy is remembered as both a distinguished football player and a state champion baseball player. In 1983, Randy earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Distribution from Texas A&M University..

After college, Randy began a life-long career in distribution. Randy worked hard in every aspect of the business, from sales to management. In 2004, he became President and Owner of HC Supply & Distribution, LLC. He was regarded as a thoughtful and effective leader. He treated his colleagues and employees with respect and genuine care. He always had an open door and a kind word of encouragement. Randy was an admired leader and he was a valued partner for both his customers and vendors.

In 1991, Randy married Suzy Williams Cooper. The two shared their lives for twenty-four years and resided in Savannah and Canton, Georgia until her passing in 2015.

Randy loved his friends and he loved his life.

The lake was his happy place. When the sun was out, he could be found cruising the water and listening to music, his boat packed with friends and family. He found peace and fun on the water.

Randy was a walker. He could be seen striding through his neighborhood in Bridgemill and up and down Sixes Road in Canton.

Randy loved sports and he enjoyed watching both his Texas teams (Aggies and Cowboys) as well as his adopted Georgia teams (Bulldogs and Falcons).

Above all, Randy was known for his boundless generosity. He shared his time, his boat, his resources, his talents, his meals, and his home. He shared his success and he shared his wisdom and experience. He shared his smile, his warmth and his friendship.

Everywhere he went - working, walking, boating, cheering, chilling - he made friends and he made happy memories. He led with laughter, kindness and care.

Just like his time on the lake, Randy "made wake" wherever he went. The waves that followed Randy were waves of warmth, kindness, generosity and friendship. He shared from his pocket and he shared from his heart. In ways small and large, he made this world a happier, kinder place.

Randy was loved. Randy will be missed by all who knew him. His "wake" will live on through the many lives he touched.

Randy is survived by his mother and father, Joan Fralix Payne and James Robert Payne, Jr.; brothers, Charles Alan Cooper (Donna) and Russell Williams Cooper (Cindy); sister, Janice Payne Jester (Jay), brother-in-law, treasured friend and business partner Gary S. Williams (Gina), and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Randy was predeceased by his wife, Suzy Williams Cooper and his older brother, Glenn Barry Cooper.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00pm on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 in the J. Henry Stuhr West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, Charleston, SC. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 2:00pm. Interment will follow at Christ-St. Paul's Church in Hollywood, SC. The service will be live-streamed at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTbyGPaosqs.
