Michael Joe Larsen
July 15, 1936 - July 30, 2021

Michael Joe Larsen, at 85 years old, passed away July 30, 2021, after fighting a 9-year battle of PAH (Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension). He was born in Port Arthur, Texas on July 15, 1936. He attended Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He then went on to Texas A&M University to obtain his Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

Mike was with ExxonMobil for thirty-five years and retired in 1995. It was at the Baytown refinery, at Pipe Still #3, where he met the love of his life, Janice Dillard. While his career started at the refinery in Baytown, Texas, it also took him and his family to Singapore, California and back to Texas. After coming back to Texas, they settled in Clear Lake City (Houston) for forty years, until relocating to Ft. Lauderdale five years ago to be close to their oldest daughter and her family.

Mike really enjoyed sailing, RV camping, fishing, hiking, kayaking and reading. He and Janice spent every summer in Lake City, Colorado in their 5th wheel travel trailer, where he hiked Fourteeners and made many good friends. His children and their families joined them in Colorado to enjoy it with them as often as they could.

Michael is survived by his loving wife Janice Dillard Larsen, brother Patrick Larsen (Patricia), daughters Christina Larsen Fleming (Jeff) of Ft. Lauderdale and Gretchen Larsen Harris (Gary) of Hunt, Texas and a son David Michael Larsen (Kim) of Tomball, Texas. Also cherishing his memory are seven beautiful grand-daughters, four adorable great-grand-daughters, one nephew, one niece and their children.

He was predeceased by his parents Roy J. Larsen, Jo Helen Larsen and his sister, Molly Larsen.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas or to a charity of your choice.
