Howard Allen Cook
March 11, 1970 - November 17, 2021

Howard Allen Cook or Alley, Al, Allen or PaPa as he was known to so many who loved him was born in Pampa, Texas on March 11, 1970 to Vernon Cook and Judy Cook.

He grew up in Miami, Texas, graduated from Miami High School then attended and graduated from Texas A&M University. He met the loves of his life, his wonderful wife Velvet and their cherished daughters Kelly and Kimbra. They enjoyed a beautiful life together in Katy, Texas for nearly 30 years.

Allen grew up in the small, panhandle town of Miami, Texas in the 1980s riding three-wheelers, four-wheeling in his pickup and playing six-man football. Allen was a dear friend of his tight-knit MHS class of ’88 as well.

At Texas A&M University, Allen was selected to be a Redpot and directed construction of the world famous Aggie Bonfire. Many of Allen’s closest friends today are ones he met on campus at College Station.

After graduation, Allen met his wife Velvet and their daughters Kelly and Kimbra. They soon moved to Katy and built a life and family that Allen truly adored. Allen was PaPa to his beloved grandkids Elias, Brayden, Kynlee, Cayson, Adelynn, Cruz and Creed. They were, without a doubt, his whole world.

Allen also loved his work at RDI. He loved being outdoors, working with his hands and solving sometimes unbelievable drilling problems on the jobsite. His camaraderie and friendships with Ronnie Wine, Kevin Cole and Tim Lejeune were huge parts of Allen’s life as well.

Allen Cook was a big man. He had a big personality, a big smile, enjoyed big friendships with everyone and especially had huge love for his family. That kind of heart and spirit and love was too much for his body to bear here with us but he’ll always, always, always be treasured and remembered.

We love and miss you Allen.

Allen Cook was preceded in death by his mother, Judy Cook. Allen is survived by his wife, Velvet Cook; his daughters, Kelly Martinez and Kimbra Hill '12; his grandchildren, Elias Martinez, Brayden Cook, Kynlee Martinez, Cayson Cook, Adelynn Martinez, Cruz Martinez and Creed Martinez; his father, Vernon Cook; and brother, Lloyd Cook.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at the Schmidt Funeral Home Grand Parkway Chapel, in Katy, where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Nate Sprinkle officiating.
