Lieutenant Colonel Tracy Kemp Dorsett, Jr.
August 22, 1937 - November 28, 2021

Lieutenant Colonel Tracy Kemp Dorsett Jr, age 84, passed away peacefully of natural causes on November 28, 2021. The son of Colonel Tracy Kemp and Evie Lee Glover Dorsett, he was born in San Antonio, Texas on August 22, 1937.

He graduated from Texas A&M in 1959 majoring in mechanical engineering and was commissioned in the Air Force. After completing pilot training, he was stationed in Misawa, Japan flying the F102. Then he served in various tours flying the F-4 until retiring after 21 years of service. His military service included 100+ aerial missions over Vietnam with the 435th Fighter Squadron in Ubon, Thailand.

He was a Distinguished Graduate of USAF Fighter Weapons School, and his military honors include the Air Force Cross, Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star, Air Medal w 12 oak leave clusters, Purple Heart, and many others.

In addition to his mechanical engineering degree, he received a master’s in aerospace engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology and a bachelor’s in computer science from Northwest Florida University. Additionally, he is a graduate of Air Command and Staff College, National War College, and Fighter Weapons School.

Upon Air Force Retirement he started a second career in information technology and automation. He started the first computer sales and service business in Fort Walton, Florida. He taught computer science and programming in colleges. He was a system analyst for multiple Dallas corporations and upgraded their systems to allow automated operations. Tracy finally retired for good outside Pottsboro Texas, on “The Farm” as family and friends referred to it. Countless hours were spent with family and friends sailing on Lake Texoma, riding horses, and hosting social gatherings such as the annual End of School Pig Roast. Through all of his activities, Tracy was accompanied by his “pack” of rescue dogs.

Tracy loved the outdoors especially fishing and wandering the Texas countryside. He loved visiting the community and surroundings of Pottsboro and will be missed by many dear friends and compadres at local establishments in the area.

He is survived by his wife Linda Julian Zorich-Dorsett, his daughter Elizabeth Lee Dorsett; his son Tracy K Dorsett III, his wife Ashley Dorsett, and their children Jake and Georgia; his stepson Christopher Phillip Zorich '98, his wife Laura '01 and their children Courtney, Kelsey, and Avery. Many nieces and nephews and his beloved dog posse Charlie, Oso, Brody, Zeyda, Winnie and Bailey.
