Mark David Rankin
Monday, August 17th, 1953 - Friday, November 5th, 2021

On November 5, 2021, Mark David Rankin, brother, cousin, uncle and friend to many, passed away at the age of 68.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 2:00 pm, in the Chapel of Wade Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, TX 76013.

Mark was born on the 17th of August, 1953 in Houston, TX to H. A. “Bill” Rankin and Anna Fay (Roller) Rankin.

He was influenced by his dad’s work as a petroleum engineer and consultant, and his mom’s love for their family. He attended high school in Houston and graduated from Texas A&M University in 1975 with a BS in Economics.

Mark’s work in the oil business spanned over 40 years.

During that time, he worked for several companies including Zapata, Poole, and Basic Energy Services. He finished his career with his own consulting company, Rankin Risk Analytics. His greatest legacies to these businesses are the young people he mentored. Mark was a born teacher whose knowledge of the economics of the oil business was only matched by his sense of humor, a great combination for those needing to learn!

Mark was preceded in death by his father, Bill; his mother, Ann; and his brother, Mike.

He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Marla and Jack Jackson; nephew Rob Rankin; four nieces: Anna Jackson, Sarah Jackson, Becky Gates, and Mary Wiley; and several cousins.
