Alan Wilson Schmidt, of Houston, Texas, died October 22, 2021, Houston, Texas. He died of natural causes at his home.

He was born on February 11, 1952 to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Schmidt in Harris County Texas.

Alan graduated from Acalanes High School. Then he attended Texas A&M University where he achieved his Bachelor of Science in Biology and was a member of the Class of 1975. He also received a Masters of Science degree from University of Clearlake.

He never married but had close friends. He worked as a petroleum software engineer and traveled many places in his career. Alan was an avid reader and gun collector. He enjoyed flying his ultralight aircraft at one time.

Alan is survived by his brother, Richard Clarence Schmidt of Chico, California, as well as his niece, Barbara Speed and nephew, William Speed.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Lynn Elizabeth Speed and his parents, Thomas Rupert and Kathryn Mae Schmidt.

Cremation was provided by Neptune Society per Alan's wishes.
