Craig Lamur Tilford, Sr.
February 5, 1966 - October 15, 2021

Craig Tilford, Sr. answered God's call and entered Heaven's gates on Friday, October 15, 2021, in Houston, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 30, at Doris Miller Memorial Park, 4855 Bellmead Dr., Waco, Texas with Pastor Jimmy Hunter officiating.

Craig was born on February 5, 1966, in Waco, Texas. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Toliver Chapel Baptist Church. He was a member of the choir, played the piano, assisted in audio-visual projects and served in many other capacities during his tenure. He was a 1984 graduate of Richfield High School where he was a member of the marching and concert bands. After high school Craig attended Texas A&M University.

Craig was intelligent, inquisitive, and loved to see how things worked, even if it meant taking things apart to do so. Friends and family sought out his self-taught expertise with computers and electronics. He had an infectious smile; loved to talk and never met a stranger. Craig had a love of all genres of music. He could hear any song and replicate it by ear.

Never fearing hard work, he spent over 30 years working as a Chemical Technician at the Albemarle Chemical Company and the Thermal Energy Corporation in Houston. He also loved following the stock market and would advise that patience would be rewarded.

Craig had many jobs and accomplishments throughout his lifetime, but his greatest love and accomplishment was being a father to Craig Jr. who was his world. He would let everyone know that his every thought, action and deeds revolved around his son and ensuring he had the tools for success. Craig passed his musical skills to his son. He was so proud when his son followed in his footsteps by joining the band; attending Texas A&M as well as his current work in the field of music. He instilled his belief, as taught by his mother, that as long as he and his son had God and family, they would never have to worry.

Craig faced many challenges, medical and physical, with strength, courage and humor. He was always happy and never feared difficult issues, because he kept God in his life and used every opportunity to discuss God's greatness. He apprenticed and received a license to preach gospel at Shiloh Deliverance of Houston and did so until his health required him to stop.

Craig was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Doris Freeman Jefferson of Waco and father, Wendel Tilford, Sr. of Dallas; sister, Philicia Jefferson of Waco; devoted grandparents, Anna and Fred Freeman, Sr. of Waco; and cherished uncles, Fred Freeman, Jr. of Waco; Donald Freeman of Hewitt and an adored aunt, Verma Freeman Clark, of Houston.

Craig leaves to cherish his memories, devoted son, Craig Tilford, Jr., of Houston; brother, Wendel Tilford, Jr. (Timika) of Houston; sister, Lisa Boone of Dallas; nephews, Traivohn Jefferson, of Bedford, Texas, Cori Boone of Dallas and Myles Tilford of Houston; niece, Jazz Tilford of Houston; aunts, Patricia Freeman-Ford (Charles) of Accokeek, MD; Rosemary Freeman, of Hewitt, Lil Freeman of Waco and Joan Cox of Dallas; uncles Eddie Freeman of Waco, Billie Freeman (Tracy) of San Diego, CA, Alton Freeman (Annie) of Charlotte, NC; and a host of cousins and friends.
