D. Warren Sumner
June 10, 1963 - October 6, 2021

Warren Sumner, 58, of Lakeway, Texas went to be with the Lord on October 6, 2021 after an aircraft accident. He was born in Dallas in 1963 and was a graduate of Highland Park High School along with his wife Laura Bryan Sumner. Warren is survived by his wife Laura, daughter Kate, son Blake, mother Peggy Sumner, and siblings Kayanne Forney, Clay, and Ben. He was preceded in death by his father, Don Sumner.

The memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 7th at The Lakeway Resort in Austin, Texas.

Warren was president of Orion Water Solutions in Austin, Texas. He was passionate about Orion’s mission of water recycling and the wonderful team of people that surrounded him. He was a proud member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 1985 and a member of Company D2 in the Corps of Cadets where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He served as the Corps Inspector General and was a member of the Ross Volunteers. He was elected freshman and sophomore class president while at A&M. He later earned his Master’s in Business Administration at the University of Texas at Austin.

Someone once told Warren, “Godspeed!” and Warren replied, “Well, I love God and I love speed.” He had a strong faith and he loved fast cars and airplanes. He also embodied hard work and the entrepreneurial spirit. He instilled a culture of excellence and integrity in everything he did. These values were embraced and absorbed by his children. His son Blake, an A&M cadet studying data analytics, also rebuilds and races cars, having spent countless hours in the garage with his Dad. His daughter Kate, an OU Sooner, mirrors his entrepreneurial instincts as she pursues a career in finance – though she also dearly loved off-roading, hunting, and dancing with her Dad. Warren and Laura always had time for their children while also making time to live life to the fullest with friends, neighbors, extended family, and each other. Warren was a member of Life Family church and was the leader of his church homegroup. He loved all kinds of music and could always be counted on to play his guitar or bongos and sing at gatherings. He was an avid hunter and experienced sportsman.

The Sumner family thanks the heroic individuals who bravely rendered aid to Warren at the scene of the accident, and the comfort they brought him in the end, praying out loud and communicating with him. They also thank the first responders and medical personnel who tended to him. We are very grateful for the kindness of friends, neighbors, and family, and for their love and support.

Memorials may be given to Youth with a Mission Memorial for Warren Sumner at the link below. Warren’s Cousin, Mac Carpenter, a YWAM missionary in India, has arranged for these funds to go directly to Christian ministries in India. This memorial is separate from Mac’s ongoing ministry.
