Carl David Huckabay
February 15th, 1957 – September 24th, 2021

Carl David Huckabay, of Birmingham, passed away September 24th, 2021 at the age of 64.

Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 on Friday, October 1st 2021 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home and Cemetery with a memorial service following immediately.

Carl David Huckabay was born on February 15th, 1957 in Henderson, Texas to Carl E. and Mary Higgins Huckabay.

He spent his childhood playing in the pine forests of Mississippi before playing on the football fields of Lumen Christi in Jackson, Michigan and Stark High School in Orange, Texas. After a year at the Air Force Academy Prep School, David continued his education at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.

Upon graduation, David moved to Dallas, Texas where he later met the love of his life. Carl David Huckabay and Katherine Marie May were united in matrimony on October 7th, 1989 in Dallas, Texas. They were blessed with two daughters.

David was an avid golfer, playing in all weather conditions and visiting courses across the world. He was a collector of many things- coins, knives, and stones, amongst various other treasures. David loved the beach and family vacations were precious to him. Nothing gave him more joy than spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Edward Huckabay and Mary Higgins Huckabay.

His memory lives on through his wife, Katherine Huckabay, and their daughters, Sarah Huckabay (James Pritchett) and Alison Moore (James Moore). He will be deeply missed by Alison’s children, Preston Dean Evans, Michael Jace Evans, and Scarlett James Moore. His memory will be cherished by his sister, Kate Yarbrough (Claibe Yarbrough) and a host of family & friends.
