Stephen Scott Pennington
November 10, 1958 - September 18, 2021

Stephen Scott Pennington, a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on September 18, 2021. He was 62 years of age.

Stephen was born on November 10, 1958 in Fort Worth, Texas. He spent most of his childhood in Lake Jackson, Texas He graduated from Texas A&M with a Bachelor's of Science Degree and was a life long Aggie fan. His love and appreciation for nature and the outdoors, led to a career in environmental research and management.

After graduation he worked on a lignite coal project in Shreveport, LA, and eventually moved to Baton Rouge, LA where he worked in the environmental science field for HNTB. In 1999 he began working for the State of Louisiana in the Environmental Division of the Office of Coastal Restoration.

He retired in 2019. Stephen was always a big sports fan and loved playing baseball, golf, and basketball in high school. He continued to play even more golf and became a phenomenal golfer. He even played one year to work towards earning his PGA Tour card. Stephen was a wonderful son and uncle who was always there for the family. He loved his parents dearly and they were his best friends.

Survivors: Mother, Joan Young Pennington; sister, Susan Pennington Bordelon, (Jacques) of Friendswood, TX; brother, Mark Alan Pennington, (Cindy) of Slidell, LA; Nieces and nephews: Brianna and Caylee Bordelon; Adam (Kate), great nephew, River Pennington, Eric and Amy Pennington, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceded in Death by his father, Donald Ward Pennington.

Services will be held on September 23, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church, 930 North Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, with the service immediately following at 1:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to; First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 930 North Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70802.
