Creed Lamar Ford, Jr.
January 26, 1926 - September 2, 2021

Creed Lamar Ford, Jr. Born in Houston, Texas on January 26, 1926, to Lydia Capdeville and Creed L. Ford. He was raised in Houston and following graduation from Jeff Davis High School he joined the Army Air Corp as an Aviation Cadet. He was discharged after WWII, attended, and graduated from Texas A&M in 1949, a proud member of the Aggie Band. After graduation, Creed married Jane Freitag and went with the Connecticut General Life Insurance Company in Hartford, Connecticut.

After several years in Hartford and Philadelphia preparing himself for a profession in the life insurance business, he and Jane returned to Texas settling and raising their five children in Dallas. They pioneered the Lake Highlands areas as founding members of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. All their children graduated from Lake Highlands High School.

Creed was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-five years and his son, Creed III '75.

Creed is survived by his wife Sandra Wilkinson Ford (Sande). As a widower, in 2014 Creed moved to The Tradition Lovers Lane Independent Living where he met a beautiful lady, Sande. It didn’t take long for them to realize that they not only needed each other, but that they were very fond of each other, and they were married in April 2017, a marriage made in Heaven.

Creed’s life was filled with community service. From his Boy Scout work, scout to Scout Master and then with the YMCA. He was founder and director of the YMCA Camp Grady Spruce Golf Classic, which exists still today and has been responsible for sending hundreds of needy boys and girls to camp.

Creed’s large surviving family include his daughter Karen Cook, her husband bill and their three children, Bill, Jr., Elizabeth, and Kevin. Survived also by the widow of Creed III, Lynn Self Ford and their two children Harper Rehme '00, her husband Peter Rehme and their two daughters, Rome, and Luisa. Lynn’s son Creed Ford IV '02, his wife Cassie '01 and their two sons, Creed V and Max. Creed was also survived by his son Randal E. Ford '78, his wife Denise and their two children, Randal '04, and his wife Lauren '04 and their three children, Layla, Ellis, and Everett as well as daughter Emily '05 and her husband Blake Susman. Creed’s youngest son, a veterinarian, and his wife Julie has two sons; Bryce and his wife Christy have a daughter. Terry '80 and Julie’s youngest son Payne lives in Dallas. Creed’s youngest daughter, Nancy Mulligan '83 and two of her three children, Ford and Gwendolyn live in Boulder, Colorado. Nancy’s son, Brennen, lives and works in Austin.

All in all – four children, twelve grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be held for Creed 11:00 am, Wednesday September 15 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Interment to follow at 1:15pm, Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers he requested that donations made to the YMCA Camp Grady Spruce Golf Classic.
