Timothy Tynan Griesenbeck, Sr.
September 05, 1927 - August 02, 2021

Timothy Tynan Griesenbeck lived a life dedicated to education, animals, family and faith, died on August 2, 2021. He was 93.

Tim was born in in San Antonio to Ursula Small and Carlos Felipe “Tim” Griesenbeck. He attended Woodlawn Elementary, Horace Mann Middle School and Thomas Jefferson High School where he formed lasting friendships that continued through his long and meaningful life.

At the age of 17, he enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II and was stationed in California. After an honorable discharge at the end of the war, Tim enrolled in Texas A&M University, like his father, where he eventually served as Company Commander of his outfit in the Corps of Cadets and inspired two generations of Griesenbeck Aggies after him.

On October 4, 1950, Tim married Rose Ann Reekers. They immediately moved to Baton Rouge with Armour & Company where he put his animal husbandry degree to use. A few years later, with two babies in tow, they returned to San Antonio to run the family business, Griesenbeck Kennels. For more than 30 years afterwards he cared for animals including dogs, cats - even lions – on their land off West Avenue with their six children. In his spare time, Tim bred Saint Bernards and was an avid hunter, golfer and racquetball player.

A lifelong student and avid reader, Tim transitioned to educator in his second career, specializing in bringing science to life among middle schoolers at Anson Jones, Pat Neff and other schools throughout San Antonio’s Northside ISD.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved sons Timothy “Ty” Griesenbeck, Jr. '73 (Kathy) and Christopher Griesenbeck (Judy). He is survived by his two daughters Tina Griesenbeck Novelli (Bill); Amy Griesenbeck Guerra (Joel); and two sons, Kenneth Griesenbeck and Todd Griesenbeck '76 (Teresa). His thirteen cherished grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren will honor his memory and legacy forever.
