Diane Stevens Oefinger
May 11, 1954 - August 28, 2021
Diane Stevens Oefinger, age 67, of Greenwood, passed away on August 28, 2021. She was born on May 11,1954 in Newburgh, New York to Marian Stevens and the late Donald Stevens.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church and was very active in her community.
Her greatest joy was helping others. She was involved in her church (Beggars for the Poor), Our Lil’ Bit of Heaven Animal Rescue and Sanctuary, the Indy Reads program, and volunteered as a hospice care companion for many years. Her hobbies included traveling,
reading, and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She was an avid nature and conservation enthusiast.
Diane had a very successful career in the life sciences field, as well as in social work. After earning her medical technologist degree, she was employed for more than 15 years at the Texas Medical Center in Houston. Additionally, she worked for Child Protective
Services of Harris County (Houston, Texas) for 10 years while earning a Master Degree in Counseling Psychology. When the family moved to Indianapolis, she excelled in a variety of laboratory and business areas at Covance Central Laboratory Services in Indianapolis
where she worked for nearly 20 years.
She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Paul Oefinger; daughter, Melissa Oefinger Weseli; son-in-law, Dean Weseli; Grandchildren, Austin Paul Weseli and Evan David Weseli; Mother, Marian Stevens; and siblings, David Stevens (m. Vickie Stevens) and
Nancy Stevens Floyd (m. Allan Floyd).
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, September 2 at G. H. Herrmann Funeral Home, 1605 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, Indiana. Services will be private. She will be laid to rest at Crown Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in her name can be made to the IU Health Foundation and Our Lil’ Bit of Heaven Animal Rescue and Sanctuary in Poland, Indiana.
