Dr. Janice Suzette Petree
December 25, 1971 - August 25, 2021
Dr. Janice Suzette Welty Petree was born to Jerry Wayne and Jill Suzette Welty on December 25, 1971 in San Antonio, Texas. She was married to her wonderful husband, Terry Petree, for 24 years and had two beautiful daughters, Renee Alyse and Rachel Anne. Her husband and her daughters were the lights of her life, whom she loved very deeply.
Janice attended Longview High School where she was a member of the Lobo Band and served as Drum Major, Majorette, and All-State Clarinet player. After graduating from LHS, as the Salutatorian, Janice attended Texas A&M University, earning her Bachelor of Science and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees, graduating Magna Cum Laude. After receiving her professional degree in Veterinary Medicine, Janice started her own relief veterinary service where she worked at various clinics across East Texas. These flexible hours allowed Janice and her husband, Terry, to be heavily involved in their daughters' various activities.
Janice was an active member in the Spring Hill community. She was always on Spring Hill campuses working tirelessly for the kids. She was a board member of the PTA, and Athletic Booster Club. She also was a Band Booster Club member, on the Longview WOW Board of Directors, Wreaths Across America, and she was a Girl Scout Leader/ Volunteer, where she was a Troop Cookie Manager. She was a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts of the USA, and she served as a Service Unit Volunteer. Janice was loved by all that met her. She touched the lives of numerous friends, colleagues, and students. She was kind to all, but most importantly, she loved her family and her close friends with a gentle fierceness and strong love that will be greatly missed.
Janice is preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Jill.
She is survived by her husband, Terry Petree, her two daughters, Renee and Rachel '25, her sister, Julie '91 and her husband Thien, her mother-in-law Colleen Petree, her brother-in-law Brian Petree, her nephews Bobby and Tai and her nieces Madelyne and Alyssa. The family would like to thank everyone in the community who has come together during this time with an abundance of prayers, thoughts, and contributions. They have been graciously received.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Janice will be held at 10 AM Monday, August 30, 2021, in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with Bro. Perry Crisp officiating. The family will receive friends from 9-10 AM Monday prior to the service.
