James A. "Jim" Divin
September 3rd, 1954 - August 22, 2021
Jim Divin, 66 of Bryan, Texas passed away Sunday August 22, 2021.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, August 26, 2021 at 12:00 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 – 7 pm with a rosary service at 7:00 pm at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.
Born September 3rd, 1954 Jim was the first born child of James W. and Gladys (Holik) Divin. Being the eldest child was made special, being he shared the same birthdate of his mother! Her special gift!! Jim was baptized in September 1954 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bryan, Texas and was a lifelong member.
Jim was gifted athletically and mentally, graduating from A&M Consolidated High school in 1972. He went on to graduate from Texas A&M with a degree in Agronomy. As a young child, Jimmy displayed exceptional talent with his oil paintings even though he stopped around the age of 9 years old. (Family treasures forever). Born of Czech/Moravian and German ancestors, Jim had a deep love of the land and agriculture. Jim had a lifelong passion for soils and was forever gardening. An avid fisherman, He enjoyed dropping a line in a good fishing hole.
Jim enjoyed participating throughout the years in the local sports leagues.
He also enjoyed many friendships and could be found playing pool at the VFW.
Blessed with an appetite for good food, he enjoyed his sister, Lynell’s cooking as well Margaret’s Italian dishes, frequently eating at out of town restaurants and always a good bar-b-cue and cook out with friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents James W. and Gladys (Holik) Divin, Grandparents Alphonse L. and Rosa (Malik) Holik and Willie Joe and Emelia (Selzer) Divin and eldest cousin, Janie. Also by beloved Uncles, Alphonse Holik, Jr ; Emil and Bill Divin and Dan Wawarofsky and Aunts, Kathy Holik ; Della and Hattie Divin and Emily Calfe and also his God-parents, Frances and Carebel Weston.
Jim is survived by his sister, Lynell (Divin) Wozencraft and husband Tim; and his brother Michael W. “Mike” Divin.
Also surviving are (10) dear 1st cousins and numerous nieces and nephews and great - nieces and nephews, many friends and distant relatives, notably, Stevie Kapchinskie and his special lifelong friend and companion, Margaret.
