Gerald "Jerry" Mallin Stoermer
December 20, 1951 - August 15, 2021

Gerald (Jerry) Mallin Stoermer passed away to heaven, Sunday, 15 August 2021. Jerry was born in Monroe, LA to his parents Helen and Uvalde Stoermer.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Uvalde '45, and his older brother Uvalde (Scoggie), and younger sister Dolly

Jerry is survived by his children, Gerald '06, Chad '08, Bobby, Summer, Kaitlin, Ben Jirka, and his ex-wife Catherine Vega, and his brother Karl '71, and his sisters Janine, Yvette, Mary, Helen and Josie and 4.5 grandchildren, and "his best friend Mike Cox".

Jerry, along with his parents and eight brothers and sisters, grew up in Lone Star, TX where he would go on to graduate from Daingerfield High School as part of the 1969’s Texas State Championship Football Team. Upon graduation he went on to go to college at Texas A&M University where he joined the Corps of Cadets on an ROTC Scholarship. Upon completion at A&M he received a commission into the United States Air Force in 1974 as a 2nd Lieutenant with a slot in flight school.

While in the Air Force he served honorably for 22.5 years as a Fighter Pilot and Acquisitions Officer achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel (O-5) before retiring with full military honors. While serving as a Wild Weasel F-4E/G fighter pilot he was ranked as the number 1 low angle bomber in the Squadron. These pilots were the most elite pilots in the world, flying supersonic speeds extremely close to the earth. They were utilized as the initial force to cross enemy lines to destroy and neutralize enemy radar and surface to air capabilities. As an Acquisitions Officer he was instrumental in a strategic research and development race against the Soviet Union. He met Catherine while stationed in California in 1982. Soon after they wed and had their children together.

As a man of high moral character and a resolve cut above most, he lived his life in the servitude of others. Jerry’s effort were instrumental to our nation during the Cold War and the Gulf War. He groomed his children to be leaders of future generations. And amongst all, to the Lord whom he served unconditionally until his last breath.

Once his children were grown he made the decision to move back to Lone Star, TX to be closer to his family. Here he continued to openly serve his community as an active member, of the school board at Daingerfield High School, of the Texas A&M Track and Field and of the Lone Star Volunteer Fire Department up until he retired as the Fire Chief. Jerry commanded the American Legion’s Honor Guard, serving the warriors of past one last time in their funeral detail.

In his final role he served as the Primary Logistical Support Driver for the “Fall off the World Tour” every summer for the past decade.

Services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 20, 2021 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Daingerfield, Texas. Burial to follow in the Our Lady of the Pines Cemetery and under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.

Rosary will be from 6:00 until 6:30 p.m., Thursday evening with visitation following from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m.
