Phillip Glynn Buie
February 3, 1953 - August 11, 2021

Phillip Glynn Buie of Round Rock, age 68, went home to be with the Lord and his beloved grandparents, aunts, and uncles on August 11, 2021. He is survived by his father and mother, Glynn D. and Dora Dean Buie of Georgetown; his sister, Beverly Smith of Houston; his brother, Alan Buie of Austin; his niece, Hannah Smith of Houston; his nephew, Zachary Smith of Houston; and his nephew, Austin Smith of Washington, D.C. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Milton and Opal Crow and Sidney and Blanche Buie.

Phillip was born in Austin on February 3, 1953, the first of Dora Dean and Glynn’s three children. He graduated from Westchester High School in Houston in 1971. He served honorably in the United States Navy from 1973 to 1977 and achieved the rank of Seaman, Quartermaster Striker. He served aboard the USS Newport News and the USS William C. Lawe.

After completing his military service, Phillip attended Texas A&M University and graduated with a business degree in August 1981. He remained a proud and loyal Texas Aggie for the rest of his days.

Phillip lived in Georgetown from 1994 to 2014. During that time, he was active in the First Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school. Phillip was also active in Rotary Club and served as a substitute teacher in Georgetown ISD schools.

Phillip resided in Round Rock from 2014 until he passed away. At the time of his death, Phillip was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Hutto, Texas.

Phillip will be buried at Ashland Cemetery in Ashland, Texas on Monday, August 16, following a small graveside service. A memorial service to be held in the Georgetown area will be announced in the near future.
