Leona Kopecki-Rapstine
April 7, 1951 - August 10, 2021
Leona Kopecki-Rapstine, age 70, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 in Jourdanton, Texas. She was born on April 7, 1951 in Floresville, Texas to Thomas and Irene Kopecki and raised in Poth, Texas.
Leona attended Poth High School and participated in U.I.L., F.H.A., Beta Club, Basketball, Cheerleading, and graduated with honors in 1969. She dated Larry Rapstine in 1967 until he was drafted. Leona married Peter Krawietz on November 15, 1969 and they had two children, Patrick and Lynsey, raised in Poth until 1988. Leona and Larry reconnected in 2011 and married on February 14, 2014.
She attended San Antonio College and received her Bachelors degree from Incarnate Word in 1973. Leona went on to obtain her Masters of Education from Texas A&M University in 1994. As a teacher, she had an impact on thousands of students from East Central, Krueger Middle School, Floresville, Rocksprings, Groesbeck, Pleasanton, and Charlotte.
Leona was also a rancher and raised cattle. She loved her family, was fond of traveling, and enjoyed the beach, flowers, and sunsets.
Leona is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Irene Kopecki.
Leona is survived by her husband Larry Rapstine; children, Patrick (Katie) Krawietz '94, Lynsey '00(Eric '99) Vinikoff; grandchildren, Connor and Cole Vinikoff; brother, Denis (Pam) Kopecki; other loving family, many friends, and students.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2021 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm with rosary beginning at 7 pm at Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel, in Floresville. The following day will be viewing at 8:30 am and Funeral Mass beginning at 9:30 am at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, in Poth.
