William Peak "Buddy" Mallery III
March 20, 1931 - September 6, 2008

William Peak Mallery, III (Buddy) passed away late in the evening September 6, 2008 after a lengthy illness. Buddy was born March 20, 1931, and was a member of a pioneer Walker County family. A lifelong Texan, he was born in Houston, lived in Huntsville and Houston, and died in Willis. He was the son of the late Maurine Hardy Mallery and W.P. Mallery, Jr. (Billy). He is survived by sister, Billie Jean Mallery Townley and Cole Younger Townley, Jr., Twin Falls, Idaho, brothers, Dr. James Hardy Mallery and Jane Praytor Mallery, Huntsville, Charles Thomas Mallery and Ann Crump Mallery, The Woodlands.

Survivors include aunts Josephine Hardy, Dorothy Hardy, and Kathryn Hardy. Nieces Cheryl Townley Bell and Tom, Jeanne Townley Foy and Kenneth, Lacey Townley Cline and Eric, Dyan Mallery Klein and Todd. Nephews William Byron Townley, aka Dusty Britches, Marc Givens Mallery and Marla, Penn deWaal Mallery and James Matthew Mallery. Great nephews Christopher and Matthew Koehler, and Maddox Mallery. Great nieces Mallery and Kennedy Klein, Courtney Cline and Ashley Townley. Buddy also loved his many cousins and friends.

He attended Texas A&M University where he was in the Corp of Cadets, and graduated from Sam Houston State University with a degree in Business Administration. He was a 1960 Charter Member of Epsilon Zeta Chapter of Delta Tau Delta, Sam Houston State University.

Buddy was a member of Huntsville's First United Methodist Church sixty-eight years. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves.

In his early business career he sold Cadillacs for Dow Motor Company and Matthews Motor Company. He retired following a long banking career with First City National Bank in Houston.

Private interment services are for family. The family will welcome friends at Sam Houston Funeral Home, 1700 Normal Park, Huntsville, Saturday, September 20, 4-6PM. In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to the First United Methodist Church, 1016 Sam Houston Avenue, Huntsville, Texas 77320 - Maurine Hardy and W.P. Mallery, Jr. Endowment Fund.
