January 12, 1934 - July 26, 2021

Paul Prasek, age 87, much loved husband, father, and papa, of Wimberley, Texas, passed away on Monday, July 26, 2021, at MD Anderson Cancer Center. After his long-fought battle with leukemia, he passed peacefully from this world into eternal life.

Paul was born on January 12, 1934 in Hallettsville, Texas, to Joe and Olga (Staha) Prasek. He graduated Salutatorian from Hallettsville High School class of 1952. Paul, a member of the Aggie Corp of Cadets and Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band, graduated from Texas A&M in 1956 and then served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force and Air Force Reserves.

In 1961, Paul married Janice Klevar of Danbury, Texas, and they made their home in Houston for the next 30 years. He worked for various companies in human resources and enjoyed his free time jogging in Memorial Park, playing tennis, and entertaining friends.

In 1992, Jan and Paul fulfilled their dream of moving to Wimberley when they purchased the Mountain View Motel, which they owned for the next 23 years. Paul pursued his passions in the arts and volunteerism in the community. He was a member of the Hill Country Community Band and was a supporter of the Wimberley Playhouse and Starlight Symphony. He volunteered at the Wimberley Chamber of Commerce and was chosen as Volunteer of the Year in 2008 and 2015. Paul was also an avid supporter of Wimberley High School sporting events.

Paul is survived by Jan, his wife of 60 years, daughter Lisa '84 and her husband Mark Mooney '84 of The Woodlands, Texas, and son Philip and his wife Ann (Koerschner) Prasek of Houston, Texas. He is also survived by his grandsons and their wives, Ryan and Audrey (Wessels) Mooney, Bret '14 and Paxton '14 (Lamb) Mooney, Nathan Prasek and Joseph Prasek, and three great-grandsons, Hayes, Walker, and Alan Mooney. He is preceded in death by his parents Joe and Olga and his brother Dan Prasek.

The Rosary will be prayed at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, August 6, 2021, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wimberley followed by the Funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a blood or platelet donation may be made or a memorial gift in memory of Paul may be contributed to MD Anderson Cancer Center.
