Bryan Christopher Pickett
December 4, 1977 - July 14, 2021
Bryan Christopher Pickett, age 43, was called home to our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 in Portland, Oregon.
He is survived by his parents, Kendall and Kay Pickett; his little sister, Kelley Dockray, his little brother, Philip Pickett, his brother-in-law, Nathaniel Dockray; his nieces, Patty Nowell, Maddalen and Avery Dockray; his uncle, Karl Kuchenbacker and cousins Marilyn and Sophie, his uncle Greg and aunt Marilyn Pickett and cousins Saul and Kevin; his God-family, Mike, Jake, and Jacque Emmert, and Pam Brignac, Mel and Clare Keefer; and numerous family members and close friends
On December 4, 1977, Bryan was born in Bryan, Texas (Aggieland), where he returned to earn his bachelor's degree in computer and electrical engineering in 2002 from Texas A&M University. He was also in pursuit of his master's degree in computer and electrical engineering at the University of Houston - Clear Lake. He went on to work in many different positions that allowed him to travel across the United States and internationally.
Bryan was known to be extremely persuasive, persistent, a little (or a lot!) mischievous, a prankster, a leader, charming, confident, and even genius. He was a devoted dog-lover (especially Bella), a Hurricane Ike survivor, and a dedicated Aggie Bonfire builder.
Bryan was a renaissance man, a jack of all trades. He always had at least one job, from lifeguard, pizza delivery person, camp counselor, and volunteer firefighter to entrepreneur as owner of multiple foosball machines, fireworks stands, and most recently his own consulting company for automation engineering, Pickett Solutions.
Bryan enjoyed various and unique activities and projects, including converting a school bus into an RV, making spicy salsa for his family and friends, boating, sailing, fishing, hunting, hiking with his dogs, water and snow skiing, causing trouble with fireworks, gaming, beer brewing, playing foosball, working on cars, playing lacrosse, swimming, baseball, building a zipline in his living room, and even taking home the trophy for chicken chasing at Mardi Gras in Lafayette, Louisiana.
Bryan made friends very easily and was forever loyal, there to lend a hand or provide a couch to sleep on. He was celebrated as the fun uncle or brother who would make you laugh and then leave you crying. Always more than a friend, Bryan was considered a brother by many. He worked hard, played harder, and loved deeply.
The visitation is scheduled for 12:30 PM and the funeral service is at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 23, 2021 at Forest Park East Funeral Home. Pastor Jim Welch and cousin of Bryan, Pastor Larry Reeves, will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bryan's life.
The family would like to thank everyone for their support, their memories, and all of the continued prayers. Flowers, prayers, or condolences will be accepted at Forest Park East Funeral Home.
