John Frederick Euler
January 18, 1937 - June 14, 2021

John Frederick Euler entered the gates of heaven on June 14, 2021 at the age of eighty four. He was born in Brownsville, Texas to William Frederick and Mattie Null Euler. Shortly after his birth the family moved to Eden, New York, where he spent most of his childhood. After graduating from Eden High School, John moved back to Texas to join the Corp of Cadets at his beloved Texas A & M University in College Station. Unable to follow his dreams of entering the Air Force because of his asthma, he instead began a career as a junior high math teacher. In 1960 he married his high school sweetheart Cherie Joy Gehl and in 1966 he became a father to Chantel Gail, then in 1968 to Charmel Elise. Still teaching, he spent many nights pursuing a Master’s in counseling, which he achieved in 1967. He then became the counselor at Sweeny High School for 6 years until moving to Alvin. A lifetime lover of all things that grow, he and Cherie pursued their dream of owning a Garden Center in Houston and began a long journey of working with plants. Later, he found his way back into teaching and worked as a high school math teacher before retiring.

During retirement, John enjoyed many adventures exploring some of our country’s most beautiful national parks and cities—from Hawaii to Colorado and beyond—with his wife Cherie. For many years, they lived on a piece of property in the country in Manvel, Texas, where he kept a greenhouse and a woodshop, and loved to watch the wildlife from his back porch and to read. He leaves behind countless pieces of custom furniture, handmade boxes, and other wooden trinkets that he’s given as gifts to his daughters and their children over the years. He lived out the last years of his life with Cherie in Richmond.

He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Cherie, daughters Chantel (Marcel) LaHaye and Charmel (Daryl) Paholek, Grandchildren Jordan (Julien), Joshua (Ainsley), Kyle, Brady, Ellis, Kelli, Jack, and Luke, great-grandchild Harrison LaHaye, brother Bill (Olive) Euler, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Ramsey and Wesley Euler, and his sister Kathy Vara.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in his honor may be made to the Rocky Mountain Wildlife Park 4821 US Hwy 84 Pagosa Springs, CO 81147

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Scott Funeral Home with Funeral Services beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Confederate Cemetery in Alvin, Texas.
