Karen June Phifer
July 15, 1954 - April 30, 2010
Karen J. Phifer, of Conway, was a native of Little Rock, born July 15th, 1954. She and her family lived in Cammack Village, then moved to Russellville for a few years before returning to Little Rock, where she graduated from Hall High.
She attended Hendrix College for 1 year, then transferred to Texas A&M, where she achieved a BA in History.
She worked for Motorola throughout the central US, and later had a long standing career with Alltel in Little Rock, even after their merger to Verizon.
Karen had many treasured memories. Some of which included a high school trip to Europe, camping through-out her beautiful home state, spending time with her family, bird-watching, and fulfilling a lifelong dream of traveling to Alaska.
Karen is survived by her daughter, Gwendolen Rhea Ganser of Orlando, Florida; her brother, Ed Hudson Phifer of Katy, Texas; her closest friends, William Russell Ganser III of Bigelow, Arkansas; Sandy Callahan, Amber Johnson, both of Conway, Arkansas; and the family dogs, Hudson and Nash-Domanic. She was a loyal family member and friend to all. She will be dearly missed.
The family of Ms. Phifer would like to express their deepest appreciation and gratitude for the unconditional loving care given by all the staff of the Hospice Home Care Center in Little Rock.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Chapel at Four Winds in Conway, on Saturday, May 8th, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. to celebrate Karen’s life, followed by a family outing to Petit Jean State Park on Sunday, to take her on one last journey to a place she loved dearly. Any arrangements you may wish to send are welcome. Also donations in Karen’s honor/ memory to Covenant House (www.covenanthouse.org) are greatly appreciated.
