DECEMBER 10, 1926 – MAY 3, 2011

Ret. Colonel Samuel A. Biondo, age 84, of Lakewood Park, FL, passed away on May 3, 2011 at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center.

Born on December 10, 1926 to Philip and Leona Biondo in Homestead, Florida. He attended Texas A&M University and received his Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering. He was also a member of the Corps of Cadets. Col. Biondo has been a resident of Florida since 1979, moving here from his last overseas assignment in Istanbul, Turkey. Colonel Biondo proudly served for 30 years in the United States Air Force. He fought during World War II, the Korean Conflict, and two tours in Vietnam before retiring in 1976. He was a recipient of a bronze star for valor.

He was a member of the Retired Officers Association, the VFW National Chapter, National Disabled Veterans, the St. Lucie County Republican Executives, and the Lakewood Park Property Owners Association.

Colonel Biondo is survived by his wife of 60 years Marjorie Janet Biondo; son Samuel A. Biondo and his wife Charlotte of Centreville, Virginia; grandchildren Brandon, Brent, and Amanda; great grandchildren Ana, John, and Daniel; brothers Steve and Dominic Biondo; and sister Pearl Biondo Lee. He was preceded in death by his sister Cynthia and brothers Charles and Louis Biondo.

A visitation will be from 11 AM to 12 PM, with a funeral service to begin at 12 PM, on Sunday, May 8, 2011 at Aycock Funeral Home, 6026 North US Highway One, Fort Pierce, FL 34946. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Hillcrest memorial Gardens.
