Stuart Todd Burton
APRIL 1, 1966 – MAY 25, 2021
“I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me shall live even if he dies.” John 11:25.
Stuart Todd Burton was born on April 1, 1966 to J.C. and Laurelei Burton in Midland, TX. With his brother, Jeff, the family traveled extensively throughout the world and enjoyed living in many cities across the United States.
He attended Texas A&M University, Class of 1988, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology, then continuing on to earn a Master of Science degree in Hydrogeology from the University of Nevada, Reno. Stu worked as a Hydrogeologist, monitoring and testing water quality in rivers and aquifers in Colorado, Nevada, and Texas. He was very active and enjoyed playing hockey, rugby and was a ski patrol in Colorado.
Stu was diagnosed with an Oligodendroglioma brain tumor in 1999. At this time, underwent a craniotomy to remove the tumor and received radiation. Stu was told he had two years to live, however, the Lord had a different plan. Over the course of his journey he had seven recurrences, one requiring a second craniotomy in 2014, other courses of chemotherapy and treatment, but Stu lived life to the fullest for another 22 years. As Stu would say “I beat cancer a long time ago”.
Stu loved all things family, a good l augh with his friends, dogs, the Cayman Islands, his girls, fishing, hunting, God, his country, cold beer, and Texas A&M Football.
Stuart was released from his battle and the Lord brought him home on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.
Stu was preceded in death by his father, J.C. and is survived by his wife, Jennifer '86, mother Laurelei, brother Jeff and wife Kathy, daughter Samantha, step-daughter Anna (Tobias),his grandson (Hugo), step-daughter Lacy (Michael), nephew John (Abby) their son (Jackson), and nephew Colin. He will forever live in all our hearts.
Our most sincere thanks goes to Texas Oncology, Austin Midtown - Dr. Morris Groves, Dr. Andrew Brenner, P.A. Hannah Culver, and nursing staff Taylar Cordell Meeks, and Christina Bowman. You gave your all to us like we were family, holding our hands and walking each step of the road with us. We will never forget your love and care.
At a future date, a celebration of life will be held in the Cayman Islands.
Stuart has requested that donations be made to “Head for The Cure”, a national organization funding brain cancer research.
Stu’s love and memory will live on in our hearts forever and we will miss him every day.
