Alejandro “Alex” Ybarra Torres
November 18, 1956 - April 28, 2021

Alejandro “Alex” Ybarra Torres, age 64, of Manvel, Texas, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at his home. Alex was born November 18, 1956 in Houston, Texas and was a longtime resident of Rosharon, formerly of Bryan, Texas. He was a General Practice Attorney and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Community Church in Manvel. He was a 4th Degree Knight in the Alvin-Manvel Knights of Columbus #6403/Aggie Knights of Columbus #10624 and active in the local scouting community, serving as Cubmaster/Scoutmaster for Troop #483 and many other positions for the Bay Area Council. He received the District Award of Merit and the Silver Beaver Award. Alex was also, a member of the Manvel Volunteer Fire Department. He is preceded in death by his son, Charles “Charley” Torres; mother, Victoria Y. Garza; father, Charles M. Torres; brother, Charlie Y. Torres.

Alex is survived by his loving wife, Katherine “Joanie” Torres; son, Captain Christopher M. Torres USA '12 and wife Gabriella '12; grandchildren, Caleb Torres, Raymond Torres, Isabelle Torres, Janessa Torres, Elena Torres and Lizzette Torres; daughter-in-law, Ana Torres; step-father Miguel Garza; step-grandchildren, Benito Vargas, Alyssa Vargas, Jeannette Vargas and Julius Vargas; sisters, Sandra Soliz, Sonia Bucklelew, Cindy Gross and Theresa Diaz; brothers, Ricky Torres, Stevie Torres, Alan Torres, Chris Torres and Michael Garza and numerous other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM Friday, May 7, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Community Church (6502 C.R. 48, Manvel, Texas 77578) with a Rosary to be recited at 1:00 PM. Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 2:00 PM Friday, May 7, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Community Church. A reception in Alex’s honor will be held immediately following the funeral mass at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 2320 Hatfield Rd, Pearland, TX 77581.

It is Alex’s wish to be cremated and his ashes interred at a later date.
