Ted Francis Sullins
OCTOBER 24, 1925 – APRIL 25, 2021

Ted F. Sullins, born October 24, 1925 in Terrell, Texas, passed away at the age of 95, peacefully at his home on April 25, surrounded by family.

Ted had the perseverance to achieve all things without limits. His enormous drive became his life-long mantra and practice. In 1943, at age 17, Ted went from playing high school football in Terrell to joining the Navy Seabees, attached to the Marine Corps. Ted entertained the troops with his boxing. He was very proud of his 22 wins and one draw. He fought in the Battle of Iwo Jima and participated in the occupation of post-war Japan.

When the war ended, he returned home and married his sweetheart, Ferndale Clifford. They have been married for 75 years. Ted attended Navarro Jr. College, then transferred to Texas A&M University. He graduated in 1950 as a Tau Beta Phi in Civil Engineering and has remained a loyal Aggie his entire life. On the first job interview, he was hired as Assistant Manager for Haggar Slacks Company in Greenville, TX. and quickly rose to Plant Manager.

During his time in Greenville, he was a member of the Greenville JC's and The Lions Club. He refereed the Golden Gloves and coached both boys and girls baseball and softball. Ted's next goal was to take on the game of Golf. He joined the country club, and became a scratch golfer. Next, Ted learned to fly, acquired a plane, and became a skilled pilot. He later used these aviation skills in his position with Haggar to over see all the Haggar plants. In 1964, Ted was promoted to Executive Vice President of Manufacturing for Haggar Slacks Company and moved to the corporate office in Dallas, TX. He retired from Haggar in 1985 after 35 years, all while pursuing his favorite passions of golf, flying, fishing, and hunting.

Ted applied his high achievement practices to all aspects of his life, especially to his wife and children. He was from one of the greatest generations in history. Ted was a great example, respected by many, inspiration to others, intelligent, witty, generous, caring, and helped many reach their goals. We, his six daughters, could not have had a better example for teaching us to be the best we can be and to persevere through any and all circumstances. As a devoted Catholic, he taught us the importance of faith and love of family, for which we are so grateful.

Survived by his wife, Ferndale Clifford Sullins, brother Bob Sullins of Arlington, daughters Claudia Sullins, Andra Williams, Laura Dell, Tracey Horton, Shelley Koeijmans, and Heather McCord. Son-in-laws Bill Horton, John Koeijmans, Greg McCord, and Ralph Williams, 19 Grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two more on the way, one great-great-grandchild, and his beloved breakfast buddy, his doggie, Spunky.
