Roll Call Tribute

Brent Brentzel '81 April 23, 2021 3:49 PM updated: April 23, 2021 3:54 PM

Brent Marshall Brentzel
June 29, 1959 ~ February 20, 2021 (age 61)

Brent was born Jun 29th, 1959 to Bill and Ruth Brentzel in Baytown, Texas. He left this world to be with the Lord on February 20th, 2021. He most recently lived in Lakeway, Texas with his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Jill and their children Julia '21 and Jakob '24. He is also survived by his brother Mark and nieces, Kasey de Jonckheere, Jaime Ball, their mother Sue, and niece Lauren Brentzel; and a host of other family members and friends.

Brent excelled at sports throughout his early life culminating in playing linebacker for the Robert E Lee Ganders. He loved the outdoors and like his father could see nature’s beauty in many things; from rocks to birds, from forests to marshes, from sunsets to full moons. Brent loved to hunt, fish and cook his game for his family and friends, some of whom would actually eat it!

He deeply loved and was incredibly proud of his wife and children. In turn, he was greatly loved by his family and a multitude of close friends, surely because he was a great husband and father, a great friend, fun to be around and was truly a very nice and thoughtful person.

Brent was truly a Texan, by birth and spirit, and lived his life like one with great pride in his Brentzel and Marshall family heritage. He loved Texas A&M where he enjoyed his time immensely and met many wonderful, life-long friends to add to his list of great friends from Baytown. Brent loved to talk, which can very obviously be attributed to his Marshall heritage.

The Brentzel family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support throughout this unexpected and very difficult time. They would also like to acknowledge the work, kindness and thoughtfulness of the many wonderful and dedicated Covid ICU staff at both Baylor White and Scott Hospitals in Lakeway and Roundrock.

Brent will be buried along with many of his relatives in Bethany Cemetery deep in the East Texas Piney Woods outside of Colmesneil and will be sorely missed by all. The graveside service will be held Wednesday February 24th at 1pm at 1880 CR 270; Colmesneil, TX 75938.
