On February 9, 1940, Mickey Dewayne was born to Kinneth and Josephine Watkins Chambliss in Borger, Texas. He married Ella Dean Bullock, his High School sweetheart, on June 12, 1962, at Denver City Church of Christ in Denver City, Texas. They were together until
she passed in 2011, just shy of 49 years together, but he was devoted to her until his very last breath. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1967 with a Bachelor’s degree. He was a high school instructor for 29 years, teaching industrial arts, adult continuing
education, and drivers ed, retiring in 1995. After teaching Bible classes most of his life, he then followed his passion and went to the Sunset International Bible Institute and became an ordained minister. He continued his education, completing master and
doctorate programs in theology. He was a minister for over 20 years, with the last eight years in Crane, Texas, where he also substituted at the high school. He was also a master woodworker, having a custom cabinet and furniture business for many years. During
that time, some of his most beautiful works were a pulpit and communion table, kitchen cabinets at the church, and the school board conference table in Denver City, Texas. He also made many lovingly crafted pieces for his kids and grandkids.
