Rex Carlos Easley, Lt.Col. USAF (Ret)
April 17, 1937 - April 20, 2021

Rex Carlos Easley, 84, of Austin, TX, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2021, with family by his side. Rex was born in Washington, D.C. to Louis T. and Bonita E. Easley on April 17, 1937.

Rex served as a page in the U.S. House of Representatives and graduated from Capitol Page School in 1955. Rex went on to earn a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas in 1961, now known as Texas A&M University. Upon graduating from Texas A&M University, Rex commissioned into the U.S. Air Force as an Engineer, honorably serving for 21 years as an officer and retiring at the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1982. During his service in the U.S. Air Force, Rex advanced his education by earning a master's degree in General Engineering from Oklahoma State University. Following his retirement from the U.S. Air Force, Rex continued his work as an Engineer at Aeronautical Research Inc. (ARINC) for an additional 10 years, retiring again in 1992.

As Rex's military career grew, along with his and Carol's family growing by three children, they lived in several locations throughout the U.S. and world. They resided in multiple states such as Mississippi, Florida, Alaska, Oklahoma, Utah, Maryland (x2), Massachusetts and Texas. Internationally, they resided at Royal Air Force (RAF) Croughton in England. In addition to living in several wonderful locations, Rex and Carol were joined at the hip for adventures throughout the U.S. and world: the unpaved Alaska-Canada (AlCan) Highway, car train trips within Alaska, Hawaii, Japan, England, Italy, Romania, France, Hungary, Transylvania, Russia, Ireland, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, Canada, Israel, Mexico and Panama.

Rex had a wide variety of interests, hobbies and skills. He was an avid gun and reloading enthusiast, participated in Single Action Shooter (SAS) events, loved classic cars since his high school days and was skilled in finding unique car collections to tour with friends and family, was an avid outdoorsman who loved hiking, camping, hunting and fishing, especially in the mountains of Utah. He was also very proud to be a volunteer for the 2002 Winter Olympics held in the Salt Lake City, Utah region. His handyman skills were known to many when it came to things needing to be created and/or fixed throughout the house or to use for his varied interests and hobbies.

Rex is survived by his beloved wife, Carol, to whom he was married in 1957. Rex is also survived by daughter Susan E. Francis '90 and husband Robert of Spring, TX, daughter Sheryl E. Morrison '86 and husband Bruce of Austin, TX, son Keith D. Easley '92 and wife Judy of San Antonio, TX, sister Rita Percival of Austin, TX, and several grandchildren: Kaleigh and Blake Beeson, Olivia Potter, Christopher and Heather Francis, Riley and Julie Morrison, Claire Morrison, Abigail Easley and Alexander Easley. Rex is preceded in death by his parents Louis T. and Bonita E. Easley.

A celebration of Rex's Life will be held on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at 3:00 p.m., at Dripping Springs United Methodist Church located at 28900 Ranch Road 12, Dripping Springs, TX, 78620. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to The Salvation Army. Rex will also be remembered at Aggie Muster to be held in April 2022.
