John Charles Moody
April 6, 1961 - April 16, 2021
John Charles Moody, 60, of Lake Jackson, TX, went home to be with the LORD on April 16, 2021. John was born on April 6, 1961, in Rison, AR to Forrest Bankston Moody, Jr. and Frances Roberts Moody.
John was a devoted husband, father, and servant of Christ. He served as an Elder and Praise and Worship leader at The Lighthouse Baptist Church, Lake Jackson. While his sons were growing up, he was a volunteer junior high football coach and Eagles Wings Booster
Club president at Brazosport Christian School and served as Scoutmaster for Troop 311 where all three sons earned the rank of Eagle Scout. John loved traveling with his family, he was an avid reader, and he enjoyed serving and encouraging others. When his
sons were very young, he was active in the foreign mission field. His first mission trip was to South Africa where he helped build a church. He later went to Romania and India where he preached and taught disciple making. As the boys got older, he traded the
foreign mission for the local one as he poured out his life into discipling his sons and leading by example through coaching sports, leading scouts, serving in the church, and in his daily interactions with those at work.
John is preceded in death by his father, Forrest Bankston Moody, Jr., and his eldest brother Alan Bankston Moody, Sr.
John is survived by his mother, Frances Roberts Moody, his wife of nearly 37 years, Dawn Michele “Shelley” Martin Moody '83, his sons Eric Shane Moody, Michael James Moody '14, and Stephen Aaron Moody. He is also survived by his brothers Robert Moody and wife
Michelle, and Kenneth Moody and wife Diane, his sister-in-law Renee Moody, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Brian and Pam Autio, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of John’s Life will take place on Saturday, April 24, at The Lighthouse Baptist Church in Lake Jackson, TX at 3:00 PM officiated by Daniel W. Baugh, Jr. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 23, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Restwood Funeral
