Basil Landon Hoyl Jr., J.D. was born Nov. 11, 1960, in Santa Maria, Santa Barbara County, Calif., to Jane Frances Davenport and Basil Landon Hoyl.
Basil graduated from L.D. Bell High School in 1979 and was a member of the Thespian Society. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts in history and was in the Texas A&M Corp of Cadets. He graduated from the South Texas College of Law in August 1986 with a juris doctor degree, became a member of the State Bar of Texas May 8, 1987.
Basil married Sonia Feb. 2, 1990, in Harris County and resided in his childhoold home in Hurst.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Sonia; two sons, Shelby G. Hoyl and Spencer C. Hoyl, of Hurst; two sisters, Katie Tonn of Houston and Beth Sylvest of Frederick, Md.; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Memorial service is 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at Decatur Church of Christ with interment to follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Family visitation and meal will be afterward at Decatur Church of Christ family room.
