Theron Dale Higginbotham
July 8, 1932 – March 2, 2021

Theron Dale “TD” Higginbotham of Tomball, Texas passed away March 2, 2021. Born July 8, 1932, in Abilene, Texas to Elmo and Jewel Higginbotham, T.D. was raised by his grandmother, Lilly Belle Higginbotham, after the early death of his mother. After graduating with a degree in Engineering from Texas A & M University in 1953, TD began service in the United States Air Force. TD was discharged from the Air Force upon the death of his father. On July 16, 1953, TD married Bettie Swan Latham in Taylor, Texas. Together they raised four children: Holly Pickett (David) of Houston, Allison Meyer (Marty) of Houston, Theron Dale Higginbotham, Jr '82 (Debbie) of Waxahachie, and Douglas '83 (Elizabeth) of Laurel, Mississippi.

TD began his professional career with Gulf Oil in Port Arthur, Texas. Starting as a field engineer, he had increasing responsibilities rising to general manager of the Hercules, California and Philadelphia, PA oil refineries. He retired from Gulf Oil in 1984 and moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where he began working as a Vice President with Valero Corporation as general manager of their first refinery. He retired from Valero after several years but remained active in the community. After 22 years in Corpus Christi, in 2011, he and Swanee moved to Tomball to be closer to family.

Swanee passed away in October, 2019, but TD is survived by his four children, 10 Grandchildren and 13 Great-grandchildren: Alexander Pickett, Scott Pickett (Theresa, children Sherry, Annabelle and Ivy), Laura Matthews (Taylor, child Emma), Meredith Meyer, Lindsey Meyer, Brooke Ballance '09 (Steven, children Latham and Paige), Daniel Higginbotham '10 (Madison, children Greyson and Myles), Phillip '07 (Jennifer, children Audrey and Stella), Gregory (Ashley Lewis, child Phoebe), Emily Wu (Eddie, children Evelyn, Ezra).

A memorial service will be held, Friday, March 5, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Dunstan Episcopal Church, Houston, Texas.
