William Finch “Bill” Wimberly Jr.
December, 1928 - January 16, 2021

William Finch “Bill” Wimberly Jr., 92, died at his home in Denton, Texas Saturday, January 16, 2021.

Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 29, 2021, at Denton Bible Church, in Denton.

He grew up in Hillsboro and graduated from Hillsboro High School where afterward he worked for Western Union. He enlisted in the Air Force during the Korean War and was based at Chambley Air Base in France. He was instrumental in starting the Rod and Gun Club at this air base. Out of the Korean War he entered Texas A&M on the GI Bill and graduated with a degree in Agriculture Economics class of 1959.

His first job out of college, he managed Texas Sesame grain elevator in Muleshoe, Texas for 20 years. He and Ruth later moved to Angel Fire, New Mexico where they owned and operated Bandanas Restaurant for 13 years. He enjoyed nature and his family - he was a hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed playing games with family and telling tall tales that would entice the more gullible family members into his web of stories. He had a fun dry wit and he will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ruth Wimberly; his son, Billy “Bob” Wimberly, (Connie) of Granbury; daughter, Brenda White of Cottontown, Tennessee; Ruth’s children, Glen Green (Kelly) of Lubbock, Lee Elder (Pati) of Dimmitt, Curtis Elder (Kitty) of Denton and Stacy Amezquita (Steven) of Lago Vista; sisters, Keta McClung and Ann Murphree; grandchildren, Billy Wimberly, Tim Wimberly, Mathew Green, Leigh Thomason, Zach Elder, Noah Elder, Levi Elder, Tory Elder, Josh Vela, Alison Vela, Mia Myers; and many great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother, William F. and Magdalene “Mag” Wimberly; sister, Sara Joslin; great-granddaughter, Moriah Wimberly; and son-in-law Jerry White.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Denton Bible Church in Denton, Texas.
