Howard Scott Conner
March 06, 1943 - March, 2020

Scott was born in El Paso, Texas, on March 6, 1943. He grew up in El Paso with two brothers. He started undergraduate studies at Texas A&M in chemical engineering. He was fifth academically in his class and was awarded membership in Tau Beta Pi and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies. After graduation, he went to work in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to work for Phillips Petroleum. It was there that he met his future wife, Jan (Knopf) from Tulsa. They married in1967 and had been married for 54 years.

Scott served honorably in the US Army at Ft. Sam Houston. There he trained combat medics in chemical warfare for Viet Nam. He also served at Fifth Army Headquarters and participated in many NORAD exercises. Later, as a registered professional engineer, he worked for Proctor & Gamble, Ciba Geigy, Anderson Clayton Foods, Olin, and Exxon Petrochemicals Division where he was a consultant. Later, Scott took an overseas job in Saudi Arabia where he and Jan lived for 13 years. He then retired and moved with Jan to Phoenix where they volunteered as they read for Sun Sounds Radio Station for the blind. Later, they moved to San Antonio to be close to family and have lived there for almost 20 years. There they volunteered at Methodist Stone Oak Hospital visiting patients for ten years.

Scott made beautiful DVD’s of their travels complete with music and great photography. As in his work, he was a consummate perfectionist.
