Ronald Wayne Furber
MARCH 4, 1943 – MARCH 26, 2021

Ronald “Ron” Wayne Furber passed away on March 26, 2021 at the age of 78 inside his home in Henderson, Nevada. His battle with cancer showed his strength and determination. He did not give up but unfortunately this was a fight he could not win. Despite his loss in the battle with cancer, he remains a hero to so many. He touched many lives and never met a stranger. He is survived by his brother, James Furber, two sons, Brian (Lindsay) and David (Heather), one granddaughter, six grandsons, one great granddaughter, niece, two nephews, and a whole lot of friends he considered family. He was a great father and grandpa, not only to his own kids and grandkids, but also to all of their close friends too.

He was born in Tonkawa, Oklahoma to Ellsworth and Jeffy Furber and grew up in Johnson City Texas for much of his childhood. He was a graduate of JCHS Class of 1961. He was a proud Aggie from Texas A&M University Class of 1965 where he studied industrial engineering and was Commanding Officer of Squadron 12 and a member of the elite Ross Volunteers. After college he was recruited by TIMET in Henderson, NV and moved to Henderson in 1965. He worked for TIMET until he retired at age 55. He then went to work for his brother at Southwest Power as an outside salesman in and around southern Nevada.

Ron enjoyed camping, fishing, shooting, and exploring the outdoors, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with family and friends “swapping lies” as he called it. He was a kind and generous person and helped many family and friends when in need. Many knew him by the name “Ol Furb”, but “Ol Reliable” would have been just as good, because to so many, that’s a big part of who he was. You could always count on him to be there and help when you needed it. He’s gone but will never be forgotten. You will be missed Ron! Rest In Peace RBGF!

There will be a celebration of life event at his home in Henderson on April 10, 2021, at 504 Summit Dr., from 3:00 to 6:00 pm.

A graveside ceremony will be held at Miller Creek Cemetery in Johnson City, TX at 3:00 pm on April 24, 2021.
