September 2, 1937 - April 5, 2021

Albert Dean “Dean” Chamrad, 83, of San Angelo passed away on Monday, April 5, 2021 in San Angelo. Dean was born on September 2, 1937, in Mathis, San Patricio County, Texas to Albert and Irene (Shepherd) Chamrad.

He grew up in the Beeville area and graduated from Beeville High School in 1956. Dean would go on to graduate from Texas A & I University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Education in 1960, Texas Tech University with a Master of Science Degree in Range Science in 1966 and finally Texas A&M University with a Ph. D., in Range Science in 1971.

Dean served his country honorably in the United States Army Signal Corps as a commissioned 2nd Lt. in 1960 and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army Reserves with the rank of Captain in 1968. He married Patricia (Patsy) Freeman of Uvalde, TX on May 24, 1986 in Uvalde, TX, and they shared 34 beautiful years together.

Dean had a 37-year career in rangeland management with the U.S.D.A. Natural Resources Conservation Service at various locations in Texas, Nevada and North Dakota, Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center in Uvalde and Angelo State University.

Dean was a true outdoorsman and in his spare time, he loved to go hunting, fishing, and doing rangeland photography. Dean and Patsy moved to San Angelo in 2002 after retiring and enjoyed a small ranching operation raising goats, sheep, and cattle. Dean was a loving son, brother and husband who had a kind spirit and a quiet nature about him. He will be truly missed by all who loved him!

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Patsy Bond, and his brothers Marc Devon and Scotty Chamrad. Survivors include his wife, Patsy Chamrad, a brother Donald L. Chamrad (Norma Jean), of Beeville, brother-in-law, John O. Bond (Michele), of Beeville, and nephews Scott Bond (Brenda) and Craig Chamrad.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to Shannon Medical Center, Park Plaza Nursing Center and Hospice of San Angelo for the compassionate care given to him.

A memorial service will not be held at this time. Enjoy Dean as you identify and inventory all those plants on the outskirts of Heaven.
