James (Jim) Bradford Hamm
May 4, 1952 - February 27, 2021
James (Jim) Bradford Hamm passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2021 in Goldthwaite, Texas. He was born May 4, 1952 in Fort Worth, Texas to Bob & Merle Hamm. A 1970 graduate of Richland High School, Jim attended Texas A&M University and was a member of the Corps of Cadets.
A loving father, grandfather, brother and friend, Jim leaves behind his wife of 45 years, Donna, and their sons Lee Hamm Of Hewitt, Texas and Reed Hamm of Florence, Texas, along with daughters in law, Sarah and Mary, grandchildren, Katherine, Kaylie, Carter and Preston, and sisters Donna Work and her husband Rick, and Melinda Giacomarro of North Richland Hills, Texas.
Jim began his business life working for the family gravel business in Fort Worth, Texas but decided to pursue his passion for Native American and traditional archery. He co-authored the popular series The Traditional Bowyer’s Bibles and also wrote seven other books on archery, hunting and Native Americans. He is recognized around the world as one of the pioneers in the resurgence of traditional archery.
Active in the Mills County community, Jim served as presidents of the local ham radio club and the Mills County Prescribed Burn Association.
A memorial service will be Saturday, March 6, 2021, 10:00 AM at Goldthwaite Pavilion at The Texas Botanical Gardens in Goldthwaite, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any of the Mills County Volunteer Fire Departments or to the Mills County Burn Association.
